Dashboard of Bolivia’s Vehicle Fleet
This report presents a detailed analysis of the growth trends of the vehicle fleet in Bolivia and the adoption of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) conversions, based on official data from the period 2003-2024. It offers a segmented exploration by department, vehicle type, engine displacement, and model, highlighting the main findings as follows:
- Growth and conversions of the vehicle fleet. A significant growth is observed, increasing from 443,888 vehicles in 2003 to 2,583,283 in 2024. As for CNG conversions, 231,549 were reached in 2024, concentrated in Santa Cruz with 72,015 and La Paz with 68,149.
- Distribution by department. Santa Cruz stands out as the leader with a total of 937,799 vehicles, followed by La Paz with 579,504 and Cochabamba with 542,145. On the other hand, Pando has 10,271 vehicles, reflecting a disparity in the distribution of the vehicle fleet.
- Types and classes. Regarding vehicle types, private vehicles represent 93% of the total, followed by public vehicles with 5% and official vehicles with 2%. As for vehicle classes, motorcycles lead with 872,550 units, followed by station wagons with 648,969 and cars with 386,547.
- Engine displacement and models. As of 2024, 1,005,858 vehicles have engine displacements between 1,401-2500 cc. Regarding the age of vehicles, models manufactured between 2021 and 2025 total 435,869 units, followed by those manufactured between 2016 and 2020 with 492,641 units.
