This dashboard presents the International Monetary Fund’s Artificial Intelligence Preparedness Index (AIPI) for 2023, which measures how prepared 165 countries are to adopt artificial intelligence and benefit from it across four dimensions: digital infrastructure, human capital and labor market policies, innovation and economic integration, and regulation and ethics.
- The average score is 0.48 on a scale from 0 to 1, with Singapore (0.80), Denmark, the United States, the Netherlands and Estonia at the top of the ranking and the Central African Republic at the bottom (0.18).
- Preparedness rises with income, as the average goes from 0.30 in low-income countries to 0.37 in lower-middle-income, 0.46 in upper-middle-income and 0.64 in high-income countries.
- Preparedness closely tracks income per person (its correlation with the logarithm of GDP per capita is 0.88), and against the score expected from that income Estonia (+0.16), Rwanda (+0.14) and Burundi (+0.13) exceed it the most, while Libya (−0.21), Iraq (−0.19) and The Bahamas (−0.17) fall furthest behind.
- Bolivia scores 0.38 and ranks 113th of 165, just above the average of lower-middle-income countries (0.37) but below that of Latin America and the Caribbean (0.43) and the score expected from its GDP per capita (0.43).
The region and income filters recalculate the indicators, the map, the dimensions, the scatter plot and the ranking, and choosing a country on the map, in the table or in the selector compares its score by dimension with the average of the selection. The dashboard was originally designed in Power BI, with its data model, DAX measures and Power Query transformations, and this web version keeps its data and structure.
